A Taste of Summer

May was a big month in the culinary world. The James Beard Foundation Awards presented our friend Tom Colicchio of Colicchio & Sons with Outstanding Chef Award, and Daniel with Outstanding Restaurant Award. S. Pellegrino also came out with their list of the world’s top restaurants, and we’re excited to report that our friends at Daniel and Le Bernardin in New York ranked at numbers 8 and 15. Stop into any of these restaurants for a sip of Casa Dragones Tequila, and for a taste of their spectacular cuisine.

Also making the top 100 list was Pujol in Mexico City, which celebrated its 10-year anniversary this month. Chef Enrique Olvera invited top chefs from Mexico and around the world to cook with him for the occasion—and chose Casa Dragones as the only tequila served. The first night included a 10-course tasting menu prepared by top Mexican chefs Alejandro Ruiz, Benito Molina, Guillermo González Beristáin, and Jose Ramón Castillo.

Summer Sipping Al Fresco

Summer is almost officially here, and we can’t wait for some sipping al fresco. Rather than bringing that bottle of wine to your Memorial Day BBQ, bring a bottle of Dragones and really set the mood! And after the last call, the Casa Dragones bottle makes a stunning, re-usable crystal decanter.

If you’re sipping Casa Dragones as an aperitif, try pairing it with a sangrita, which will complement the complex taste of the tequila and cleanse the palate between sips. To make your own sangrita at home, see our special house recipe, Blood of the Dragon, which was recently featured on GQ’s food blog.

Chef Olvera prepared another spectacular meal with three internationally renowned chefs: Alex Stupak of WD-50 in New York, Alex Atala of D.O.M. in Sao Paolo, and Chef René Redzepi of Noma in Copenhagen, recently chosen as S.Pellegrino’s #1 Chef and Restaurant in the World. Casa Dragones was paired with an amuse bouche: a gordita de queso with avocado pureé, prepared by Chef Olvera. Felicitaciones Enrique!

Chef Olvera also likes to pair Casa Dragones Tequila with red ceviche, ‘encacahuatado’ chicken and orange flan. Do you have a favorite dish to pair with Casa Dragones? Let us know and we’ll share it with the rest of our fans.

Casa Dragones Hits the Film Festival Circuit

Casa Dragones Tequila made its film festival debut at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, sponsoring a party for filmmaker and adventurer Sebastian Copeland. Copeland’s spectacular new film, Into the Cold, documents his 2-month trek to the North Pole, bringing us a first-hand account of global warming. Casa Dragones was also flown to France especially for the Cannes Film Festival for a party hosted by Graydon Carter and Gucci, for filmmaker Martin Scorsese and his work with the Film Foundation, the foundation that restores and preserves old films. Scorsese’s latest restoration, Il Gattopardo, was screened at the Festival.
