Pepita is a traditional Mexican technique of glass engraving that uses a wheel to carve out small “seed-like” shapes in the glass. Literally translated, Pepita means “small seed.” The tradition first began in Spain, and was brought to Mexico in the 1500s when Rodrigo de Espinoza opened Mexico’s first glass factory in Puebla.More The native workers began to blend their own Pre-Hispanic designs into the glass, evolving the technique to the style now recognized as Pepita. Each bottle of Casa Dragones is hand-engraved by one of the few Mexican artisans skilled at this magnificent technique.Less
