Mexico’s Bicentennial Party

Casa Dragones Celebrates Mexico’s 200th Birthday

200 years ago in Mexico was a historic time. The Dragones cavalry of San Miguel, led by General Ignacio Allende, sparked one of the movements that led to Mexico’s Independence of 1810. The Dragones had an independent spirit that drove them to pursue a dream. We’re inspired by their story, because we believe in doing things differently too, and creating a tequila that tastes smoother and unlike any other.

This year, we’re very proud to celebrate Mexico’s 200th birthday, and the courage and independent spirit of the Dragones. We held a Bicentennial Party in Mexico City at the spectacular Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico. Guests entered the magnificent 18th century colonial setting greeted by a classical cellist and a 10-meter high replica of the Casa Dragones box. See photos and video of the event.

After walking underneath 300 suspended crystal decanters, guests entered the party and enjoyed a sensational night of music and sipping, including live dance performances and a memorable vocal performance by Mercedes Nasta of Disco Ruido. Some of our special guests included Patricia Bernal, Rafael Micha, Zelika García, Oscar Madrazo, Enrique Guerrero, Cristina Faesler, Fabiola Campomanes, Arleth Teran, and Alexia Camil. It was an incredible celebration—our biggest event yet—and we’re proud that it was held in Mexico City. Viva México!

Napa Valley Tasting

An Intimate Tasting for Industry Experts

Casa Dragones hit Napa Valley wine country with exclusive tastings for some of the wine industry’s most eminent experts. Guests discovered that much like the wine industry, the production of fine tequila depends on the terroir and the harvest. They also learned how to properly ‘nose’ the complex aromas of Casa Dragones.

Hosted by Clare Luce Abbey, guests included Katherine Blankiet (Paradise Hills Vineyard), Chef Joel Ehrlich (Bistro Jaunty), Karen Tussing, Michael and Kathy Chellini (Stony Hill Winery), Don Stephens (Stephens Winery), Matthew Kelly, and Francis Ford Coppola.

Made a Different Way

Proud to be Rethinking Tradition

The exhibit “Rethinking Tradition: Contemporary Design from Mexico,” opened this month at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, DC. Casa Dragones was chosen to be served because we are also rethinking tradition by creating a tequila that’s made a different way—made for sipping, not for shooting. We’ve also re-introduced the rare style of 100% Agave Joven Tequila. The special event was curated by Ana Elena Mallet and hosted by Arturo Sarukhan, Ambassador of Mexico, and featured works by 31 Mexican artists known for their new ideas. Another innovator, chef Enrique Olvera of Pujol Restaurant, created an inspired menu for the event.
