Orozco in Paris

With themes as varied as geometry and gaming, maps, philosophy and subconscious thought, it’s hard to pin down Gabriel Orozco. And appropriately, the Mexican artist refuses to work in one medium — his pieces span sculpture, photography, installation and painting. Schooled in Mexico City and currently based there, as well as in Paris and New York, Orozco has left behind an impressive body of work – see “Horses Running Endlessly,” his cerebral play on the chessboard, with infinite possibilities; or “Ping Pond Table,” which invited participants to play table tennis around a lily pond. Orozco’s latest exhibition showed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York earlier this year, and moves to the Centre Pompidou in Paris in September.
