It’s easy to gaze into a bottle of Casa Dragones tequila and see your own crystal blue persuasion—each bottle is 100% pure crystal, after all. Crystal sparkles our lives, whether it’s a chandelier, decanter, beaded dress or handbag, but what is crystal? Well, it’s a product of physics and geometry (remember geometry?). Fashioned by that expert wardrobe stylist, Mother Nature, crystal is an arrangement of atoms of molecules in a fractal setting: an array of points repeating periodically in three dimensions. Crystal glass production was introduced by Venetian factories in the 13th century, with modifications along the way—notably the patent of lead crystal, with higher proportions of lead oxide instead of potash (potassium carbonate), suitable for engraving.
Today, thanks to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of Mexico City-based Nouvel Studio, each bottle of Casa Dragones is crafted using 100% pure lead-free crystal, making it suitable to house our tequila. Created using a semi-automated process, each bottle is individually buffed by hand to deliver a fine, sparkling sheen. And thanks to this handcrafted process, each brilliant bottle is completely unique.
