Cocktails & Pairing Dinner with Sarah Jessica Parker and Tequila Casa Dragones

Sarah Jessica Parker joined Tequila Casa Dragones, Daniela Soto-Innes of Cosme Restaurant and Jeff Bell, the head mixologist of New York’s PDT for an evening of intricate chef pairings with Casa Dragones Joven and signature craft cocktails featuring Casa Dragones Blanco.

As guests arrived, mingled and caught up with old friends and new, Jeff Bell was swiftly creating two completely original signature craft cocktails featuring Casa Dragones Blanco. His first cocktail, “The Fall Dragon,” put a twist on the flavors of fall by incorporating an apple cider reduction, cinnamon and ginger beer into a delightfully seasonal cocktail, while the “Cosme’s Victory” centered around the citrus flavors of lime juice and the subtle spiciness of Ancho Reyes Verde.

After cocktails, all twelve guests including Hamish Bowels, the editor at large of Vogue US, and renowned fashion designer Brian Atwood sat down for an outstanding meal by chef Daniela Soto-Innes, the 2016 James Beard Foundation’s Rising Chef of The Year Award-winner. The night’s meal featured dishes 3 main dishes paired with Casa Dragones Joven and included an appetizer of sliced raw fish with finger lime and avocado, followed by lobster in brown butter and ginger, before a final entree dish of mackerel in blue corn aioli with castelrosso. Celebrating 16 Years of RxArt with Tequila Casa Dragones

Tequila Casa Dragones was proud to join RxArt’s 16th Anniversary party at Manhattan’s Stephen Weiss Studio, and co-chaired by Rachel and Neil Blumenthal and Stephanie and Peter Brant. VIP guests, honorees and donors were able to enjoy Tequila Casa Dragones Joven during a special dinner before joining the rest of the event’s over 200 attendees downstairs for cocktails featuring Casa Dragones Blanco, a silent auction, award ceremony and finally, a live auction which included two one-of-a-kind Casa Dragones Joven bottles created by artist Rob Pruitt.

Just under 50 VIP guests began the evening early with an outstanding 4 course dinner provided by Peter Callahan Catering on the second floor of Stephen Weiss Studio. Before the first course was served, dinner guests raised glasses of Tequila Casa Dragones Joven in a toast to RxArt, to the evening’s honorees, and to many more years of making a difference in children’s hospitals by helping them to heal through the power of visual art.

After dinner, guests moved downstairs into the studio’s main space for cocktails featuring Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco on the rocks, or in the signature craft cocktail, the “Cuerpo de Cielo” – an original recipe by mixologist Ulysses Vidal of Employees Only. During cocktails guests mingled throughout the venue’s main exhibition space while browsing through displayed auction items and placing bids.

Later, Jenna Lyons of J.Crew took the stage to present this year’s Inspiration Award to artist Rob Pruitt, followed by Neil Blumenthal of Warby Parker who introduced this year’s Innovation Award Winner, TJ Parker. After hearing from the event’s guests of honor, Sara Friedlander, Vice President of Sales at Christie’s steered the event into the night’s main attraction – the live auction. Celebrating Gloria Cortina’s New Line With Casa Dragones Blanco Cocktails

Tequila Casa Dragones was proud to support Mexican designer Gloria Cortina at the opening night of her first solo exhibition, by pouring the unique Casa Dragones Blanco signature craft cocktail which was inspired by her own design work. The cocktail, aptly named “The Obsidian,” was originally created by mixologist Rael Petit who drew its inspiration from the shimmering black tiles of obsidian that cover the walls and ceiling of Casa Dragones Tasting Room in San Miguel de Allende and were conceptualized and facilitated by Gloria Cortina herself.

Unveiled in Manhattan’s Cristina Grajales Gallery, the exhibition’s opening night drew over 100 guests including Laura Raicovich, head of the Queens Museum, designer Sebastian Errazuriz, and Collective Design Fair Founder Steven Learner to enjoy cocktails while weaving in and out of Cortina’s new furniture line, “From Within.” The line features glistening pieces of furniture created primarily from black, bronze, silver and gold obsidian, as well as nickel, brass, quartz and purple cochinilla lacquer. Many of the pieces are polished and hammered into shape by hand, and each reflect Cortina’s fascination with Mexican heritage.

The choice to incorporate obsidian – a naturally occurring glass-like rock common to various parts of Mexico – and cochinilla lacquer which gets its purple coloring from the Cochineal insect showcases Cortina’s deep fascination with Mexican heritage and culture as both materials were also commonly used by the Aztecs. Learn more about the exhibition which toes the line between the ancient and the contemporary here.

Tane and Maestro Felguérez Highlight Excellence in Mexican Craftsmanship

Every year since 1974, the outstanding silversmiths at Tane, a luxury jeweler in Mexico, produce a single piece of unique artwork that is born out of a collaborative partnership with a renowned artist. This year, Tane partnered with Maestro Manuel Felguérez, a prominent Mexican abstract artist known for his influential role in the Generación de la Ruptura which broke away from the muralist movement championed by Diego Rivera during the mid 20th Century.

This year’s piece, an abstract design conceptualized by Maestro Felguérez and executed by the talented Tane silversmiths, features individual impeccably crafted pieces of pure silver arranged into a one-of-a-kind 45 centimeter composition that is both narrow and vertical.

To honor the launch of this year’s collaboration, Tane hosted an intimate lunch for 45 guests prepared by chef Jorge Vallejos at Quintonil (#12 of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants) in Mexico City. While finding their seats, guests enjoyed a craft cocktail featuring Casa Dragones Blanco aptly named, Agua de Quintonil before the meal’s first course was served. The afternoon’s marquee entree was a colorful dish of Escamoles paired with Casa Dragones Joven, and lead Maestro Felguérez to remark that “this is a tequila that you just have to drink with real connoisseurs,” before guests parted ways after lunch.

For years, Tane has been maintained its reputation for “silversmith work that is completely devoted to the pursuit of perfection,” – a declaration that was most certainly solidified through this year’s collaboration with Maestro Felguérez.

Frieze Magazine marked its 25th Anniversary with a celebration at Brasserie Zedel, a Parisian style restaurant in the heart of London’s chic Soho neighborhood. As the evening kicked off, members of the contemporary art world including artists and collectors gathered beneath the restaurant’s lofty ceilings and mingled throughout the dining room’s stately marble columns before settling in for a night of dinner and dancing.

While designed to celebrate Frieze Magazine’s 25th year, the evening was largely in part a congratulatory dinner in honor of the magazine’s Co-Publishers, Matthew Slotover and Amanda Sharp. In addition to guiding the Magazine’s publications and operational success, the duo also serve as Co-Directors of the annual Frieze Art Fair. Following the final course of dinner, guests were served glasses of Casa Dragones Joven with their dessert before moving into a second room for music and dancing.

Simultaneously, this year’s Frieze Masters featured works by Picasso and over 130 of the world’s leading modern and historical galleries and showcased the ancient era, Old Masters and late 20th century.

The Mexico City-based gallery exhibited pieces by Gabriel Orozco, Leonor Antunes and Roman Ondak in an incredible display of Mexican contemporary artwork.

Exploring What It Means to Be Human at John Wolf’s “Human Condition” Opening

“Human Condition,” an immersive and site-specific art exhibition curated by renowned art advisor John Wolf, held an intimate opening night reception in Los Angeles, CA. Sprawling throughout over 40,000 square feet of the former Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center, the exhibit features work by over 80 artists, with each piece designed to re-contextualize the hospital’s history through an exploration into what it means to be human. Guests mingled and strolled through the former hospital’s hallways while taking in the exhibit’s artwork for the first time.

During the event, Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco was served either on the rocks or in a specialty cocktail called the “Dragones Tincture.” This particular craft cocktail brought the presence of autumn to sunny Los Angeles through its subtle notes of pear and soft citrus, while the awareness of Halloween’s proximity was heightened by a costumed waitstaff clad in hospital scrubs.

Unveiling “For Future Reference” by Mexican Artist, Pedro Reyes

On September 13th, contemporary art lovers, friends, and board members of the Dallas Contemporary gathered to raise shimmering glasses of Tequila Casa Dragones Joven in honor of Mexican artist, Pedro Reyes’ new exhibit, “For Future Reference.” Tequila Casa Dragones was proud to share in this exciting moment that recognized Mexican artistry and the unique talents of Pedro Reyes himself.

The exhibition creates a bridge between sculpture and systems of thought by exploring the connections between visual Greek statuary and Greek philosophy. Throughout the exhibition, Reyes explores the visual representations of famous allegories as seen in his recent sculpture, Plato’s Cave which translates the psychological concepts of the tale into an architectural space.

The evening was hosted at board member, Laree Hulshoff’s private home, which was quickly filled by elegant guests sharing a collective appreciation and love for the contemporary art world. The evening’s attendees were treated to passed hor d’oeuvres and the smooth taste of Casa Dragones Joven as they discussed and celebrated the opening of Reyes’ new exhibit.

SMART Festival 2015

Art and events in San Miguel de Allende

Each summer, our hometown of San Miguel de Allende hosts SMART, a dynamic and visionary art festival featuring art exhibitions, culinary events, and art tours. This year, as the featured event Casa Dragones hosted a talk at La Casa Dragones, where Patrick Charpenel, internationally renowned curator and former director of Museo Jumex, discussed the life and work of acclaimed artist Danh Vo.

During the event, guests including Betsabee Romero, Bruce James, Santiago Carbonell, Mireya Escalante and Ricardo Garrido sipped on Casa Dragones Joven while learning about the illustrious career of Danh Vo, whose recent work includes the curation of the famed Venice 2015 exhibit Slip of The Tongue and the installation of the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2015, entitled mothertongue.

During this event, the Danh Vo Special Edition of Casa Dragones Joven was also introduced. Vo designed these special edition bottles especially for the two unique exhibitions surrounding the 2015 Venice Biennale. Casa Dragones Joven Special Edition bottles feature calligraphy directed by the artist, and executed by the artist’s father, Phung Vo, whose elegant calligraphy is prevalent in Vo’s art.

Special Edition bottles are available exclusively for sale at the Museum Shop in Punta Della Dogana, Venice, at the Danish Pavilion, Venice and participating galleries representing Vo’s work. For more information, contact SpecialEdition@CasaDragones.com

Danh Vo Special Edition

Punta della dogana – Pinault collection 2015

Casa Dragones is thrilled to announce our collaboration with the internationally acclaimed artist Danh Vo, in two Special Edition bottles designed especially for two unique exhibitions surrounding the 2015 Venice Biennale. Both Special Edition bottles feature calligraphy directed by the artist, and executed by the artist’s father, Phung Vo, whose elegant calligraphy is prevalent in Vo’s art.

According to ArtNet News, “when Danh Vo was asked to be the first artist to curate an exhibition at Venice’s Punta della Dogana (run by the Pinault Collection, as is the Palazzo Grassi), his first thought was tequila.”

To celebrate the Special Edition and the exhibition opening, Casa Dragones Joven was poured at the sensational dinner hosted by Francois Pinault in honor of the artists and curators. The dinner began with glasses of Casa Dragones being served at the magnificent Hotel Bauer, where Mexican craftsmanship met Italian sophistication while overlooking the incomparable views of the Punta Della Dogana. Late night revelry continued as artists, collectors and newly-inaugurated European tequila lovers enjoyed their first time with Casa Dragones.

The first exhibition, Vo’s Slip of the Tongue at Palazzo Grassi – Punta Della Dogana – Pinault Collection, marks the first time an artist has been selected to curate for Punta Della Dogana in Venice. The second exhibit will be at the Venice Biennale’s Danish Pavilion, where Vo is the featured artist.

For this first Special Edition, 150 Casa Dragones Joven bottles have been hand-inscribed with the exhibition title, Slip of the Tongue, uniting each untitled piece under the umbrella of Vo’s curated collection, in collaboration with curator, Caroline Bourgeois. Special Edition bottles are available in Punta Della Dogana – Pinault Collection museum store. They are also available exclusively through Casa Dragones Concierge. For information, please contact Concierge@CasaDragones.com

The origin of our collaboration is both remarkable and fitting. Danh Vo, who was born in South Vietnam and later settled in Denmark with his family in 1979, has recently chosen to reside in Mexico City, and shares a passion for Mexico that extends to Casa Dragones. We are honored and thrilled to be part of the artistic curation of the Venice Biennale 2015.

The Art and the after-party

Casa Dragones was very proud to once again take part in Frieze New York, one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs, which takes place on Randall’s Island in New York.

During the fair, gallerists, art connoisseurs and tequila lovers stopped by Frankies Spuntino to enjoy the refreshing Rosal, a signature craft cocktail made with Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco, dry vermouth, Combier Pamplemousse, and Campari.

To honor the participating galleries, Tequila Casa Dragones joined forces with The Founders ofFrieze Art Fair to host their Exhibitors Party at Hotel Americano, where guests danced to DJ Matthew Slotover’s tunes while enjoying Casa Dragones Blanco, on the rocks with a twist of grapefruit.

This year, Frieze New York featured over 190 of the most dynamic galleries including New York’s Gagosian Gallery,  Marian Goodman Gallery, Travesia Cuatro and many more. Featured artists included Danh Vo, Milena Muzquiz, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons, and Cy Twombly among others.

Danh Vo Special Edition

Venice Biennale 2015

Often inspired by the landscape of his locale, Danish-Vietnamese artist Danh Vo, who currently resides in Mexico, was inspired by the tradition and spirit of Casa Dragones and our shared passion for Mexican culture and the arts.

As part of his installation of mothertongue at the Danish Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia, 56th International Art Exhibition, Danh Vo deliberately places a bottle of Casa Dragones Joven Sipping Tequila on a 1949 Danish wooden table inlaid with 30 silver coins.

Casa Dragones hosted a party honoring the exhibition at the Danish Pavillion, where guests, artists and curators including Danh Vo, Suzanne Ghez, Marian Goodman, Mauricio Guillén and Rirkrit Tiravanija enjoyed Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco on the rocks.

“Danh Vo is one of the most important and innovative figures on the international art scene,” says the Danish Arts Foundation’s Committee for Visual Arts Project Funding, who selected the Vo to represent Denmark at this year’s Venice Biennale.

To celebrate this remarkable curation, Casa Dragones and Danh Vo have created a new Special Edition 56th Venice Biennale – Danish Pavilion collection. Each bottle is directed by the artist and hand-inscribed with calligraphy by the artist’s father, Phung, whose beautiful calligraphy is often present in his work.

Special Edition bottles are available for sale at the Danish Pavilion and participating galleries representing Vo’s work.  For more information, contact SpecialEdition@CasaDragones.com
