Celebrating Mexican Independence Day in Mexico and New York
On Saturday Sept. 15, Casa Dragones dedicated the full day to celebrating Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 16) in Mexico and New York. At The Tasting Room in San Miguel de Allende, the celebrations started with an all-day residency by mixologist David Hernandez of The Resort at Pedregal, where he created signature Casa Dragones Blanco cocktails. The highlight of the day was the ‘16’ with Casa Dragones Blanco, jalapeño, chartreuse and cilantro.
In the evening, we hosted an intimate VIP Pairing Table dinner at La Casa Dragones by Chef Gustavo Pinet of The Resort at Pedregal. The adventurous five-course menu—including dishes such as oysters, beef tongue, and goat cheese cheesecake—was paired with Casa Dragones Joven. The festivities continued all around San Miguel de Allende at Jacinto, Quince rooftop, and Atrio where signature Casa Dragones cocktails were served to guests on the occasion of Independence Day.
Meanwhile, at Manta at the Cape in Cabo San Lucas, mixologist Vanessa Proctor Wall of Son of a Gun in Los Angeles made a special appearance to mix up Casa Dragones cocktails for part of the resort’s “El Grito” celebration. Cocktails included the Infante: Casa Dragones Blanco with lime juice, orgeat, rosewater and nutmeg, the Felix: Blanco, watermelon and lemon juice, and mint syrup, and Negrete: Blanco with pineapple and lemon juice, serrano pepper syrup, bitters and chili salt.
In New York, we rang in the holiday with our friends at Cosme where beverage director Yana Volfson helped us celebrate with Casa Dragones Blanco margaritas and piraguas, complete with a live mariachi band. Many thanks to all our friends and partners who made this Mexican Independence Day one to remember.
