Casa Dragones continues to grow, but keeps its small-batch production philosophy.

“We'll always be producing in batches of no more than 500 cases at a time,” says Casa Dragones CEO and co-founder Berth González Nieves. “We believe in focus and meticulous attention to detail. If we continue to grow, we will remain a small-batch producer.”

Casa Dragones produces two tequilas — Joven and Blanco — which, the company says, “defy the ordinary” and are the world’s best to sip. The tequilas, according to Casa Dragones, are “uniquely smooth with refined character and softer, cleaner finishes” than other tequilas. Such character would be expected by consumers who buy a 750-milliliter bottle of Blanco for $75 or Joven for $285 at the Casa Dragones website. A half bottle of Blanco, which retails for $42, was introduced this past summer.

“We wanted to create something that is perfect and portable for any type of getaway and makes for a memorable host or hostess gift,” says González Nieves about the smaller-sized product. “The half bottle also allows consumers who might not have experienced our sipping tequilas to try the Blanco at a more accessible bottle size and price point.”

“Joven is a master blend of a white tequila with a 5-year-old extra-aged tequila,” she says. “It’s a tequila made for sipping and pairing with food.  In this beautiful tequila, you will find the floral and the citrus notes of the Blanco tequila balanced with the sweetness and the wood spice of the extra-aged tequila. Blanco has a unique balance of semi-sweet notes of agave warmed by hints of pepper and cloves, with a crisp, light finish with hints of almonds and a bright aftertaste.”

The finished products that consumers sip, though, are far removed from their lofty beginnings.
