Casa Dragones Tasting Room in the Collectors
Lounge at Art Basel Miami Beach
We are proud to announce our Official Partnership with Art Basel Miami Beach. This year, we will host a hospitality space within the Collectors Lounge designed by friend and Mexican Designer, Héctor Esrawe. We selected Studio Esrawe as its work fits perfectly with our desire to showcase the zeitgeist of contemporary Mexican design, while both respecting and modernizing age-old craft traditions.
Inspired by the celebrated Casa Dragones Tasting Room in San Miguel de Allende, the Casa Dragones Tasting Room at Art Basel Miami Beach also showcases our ongoing commitment to Mexican craftsmanship. The concept of the original Tasting Room stemmed from a deep-seated desire to provide guests a transportive, sensory experience with our terroir. The terroir has been incorporated into the space using obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass found in Casa Dragones’ agave fields.
At Art Basel Miami Beach, the Tasting Room model further evolves, with an innovative take on sustainable contemporary Mexican design. The Tasting Room at Art Basel offers guests a beautiful, private setting to savor the ritual of tasting.
The entire design is inspired by the prismatic and geometric shapes of the agave, with a diamond pattern taken from the plant’s pina, from which tequila is made.
The sumptuous space is crafted out of translucent Mexican white onyx sourced from Tecali de Herrera, Puebla, where its people have been working with the native stone for generations. Stacked white onyx columns and shelves evoke Mexico’s Basalt Prisms, exquisite rock formations from ancient lava eruptions.
The bar itself is circular, as is the pina, the heart of the agave plant, lending itself to social interaction and intimate conversation.
During the course of the fair, a series of events will take place in the Casa Dragones Tasting Room each day, including guest Art-tenders, and a showcase of our Artist Editions.
