DAY OF THE DEAD COCKTAILS

MIDNIGHT PONCHE

Yana Volfson puts an aromatic spin on the traditional Mexican ponche with spices that are meant to taste as good as they smell, such as cinnamon and anise.


Recipe
  • 1 oz. Casa Dragones Blanco
  • ½ oz. Apple Brandy infused with Cinnamon 
  • ½ oz. Velvet Falernum 
  • ½ oz. Lemon Juice
  • ¾ oz. Apple Cidar 
  • 2 Dashes of Bitter Truth Creole bitters

Add all ingredients and warm slightly over stove top, stirring ingredients together. Or build in a shaker, shake and serve with one small cube.

LA CATRINA

Jim Meehan crafts a complex yet elegant Day of the Dead cocktail with La Catrina, a deliciously frothy drink that complements the warm, spiced notes of Casa Dragones Blanco.


Recipe
  • 2 oz. Casa Dragones Blanco
  • 2 oz. Rice Agua Fresca (Horchata)
  • ½ oz. Cacao Agua Fresca (Chocolate)
  • ¼ oz. Ancho Reyes Ancho Chili Liqueur
  • ¹⁄₁₆ tsp. Pepita Paste (Pipian)
  • 1 Whole egg


Add Pipian, Ancho Reyes Liqueur, chocolate, horchata, Casa Dragones Blanco to a cocktail shaker and stir. Then, add a full egg to the mixture and dry shake. Next, add ice to the cocktail shaker and shake. Strain and serve in an old-fashioned glass.

This dark and mysterious-looking cocktail is inspired by the volcanic rock found in our agave fields. Crafted by Rael Petit, it has an earthy flavor from the edible charcoal, and a bubbly finish from the Prosecco.


Recipe
  • 1½ oz. Casa Dragones Blanco
  • ¾ oz. Cinnamon Bark and Star Anise Syrup
  • ½ oz. Lime Juice
  • A pinch of edible charcoal
  • Prosecco

THE DARK KNIGHT

The ingredients in this cocktail draw on classic fall flavors like cardamom to highlight the notes of pepper and clove in Casa Dragones Blanco. The orange liqueur and tangerine juice add a slight citrus twist, for a light, refreshing drink perfect for Halloween or Day of the Dead.


Recipe
  • 1 ½ oz. Casa Dragones Blanco
  • ½ oz. Orange Liqueur
  • 2 oz. Pure Black Sapote
  • 1 oz. Tangerine Juice
  • ½ oz. Lime Juice
  • ½ oz. Cardamom Syrup


Dry shake all ingredients, then shake with ice. Double strain into a rocks glass with one ice.
