Day of the Dead in San Miguel de Allende 2017

Tequila Casa Dragones celebrated Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) in our spiritual home of San Miguel de Allende. During the Mexican celebration that honors those who have departed, it is believed that the spirits of the dead arrive for a visit on October 31st and depart on November 2nd. Those three days are spent honoring departed loved ones by celebrating in cemeteries, as well as by creating marigold-filled altars at home and in public spaces.

In the spirit of Dia de Muertos, La Calaca Festival began in San Miguel de Allende in 2012 to bring together Mexicans and visitors alike, to witness art and creativity inspired by Dia de Muertos. More than just a celebration of Dia de Muertos, La Calaca features up-and-coming local artists, costumed processions, live music performances and parties, all in honor of the Mexican traditions of Dia de Muertos.
