The evening marks the launch of the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo’s annual program through an institutional gathering that brings together the community supporting and enabling the museum’s work.
During Mexico City’s art week, there is one event as unmissable as it is meaningful: the Tamayo Gala at the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo. The evening inaugurates the museum’s annual program through a gathering that convenes the community behind its mission. It is truly a night at the museum—celebrating art, philanthropy, and the country’s cultural landscape. The purpose of the Tamayo Gala is “to strengthen the development of its exhibition, educational, and public programs, while reinforcing its mission as a space for reflection, research, and the dissemination of contemporary art.”
Set against the backdrop of the city’s dynamic cultural calendar—drawing visitors from around the world to Mexico’s capital—the evening brought together a remarkable group of artists and cultural figures. Among those in attendance were Andrea Torreblanca, Eugenio López Alonso, Carla Fernández, Pedro Reyes, Gabriel Orozco, Rodrigo Peñafiel, Alejandra Servitje, Bertha González Nieves, Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, Elena Reygadas, Tatiana Bilbao, Gabriela Cámara, Mario García Torres, Alberto Guerra, Zuria Vega, Diego Boneta, Aislinn Derbez, Julieta and Yvonne Venegas, Law Roach, and Patricio Campillo.
Wayamou: Languages of the Common is the inaugural exhibition of the 2026 program, bringing together for the first time the work of Laura Anderson Barbata and Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe. The evening was held in strategic partnership with Tequila Casa Dragones.
“It is essential to continue supporting spaces that foster artistic creation and critical thinking. For Casa Dragones, these are fundamental pillars for the cultural development of our country, and we are honored to celebrate five years of walking alongside Museo Tamayo in this mission,” shared Bertha González Nieves, co-founder and CEO of Tequila Casa Dragones.
