Casa Dragones was founded in 2009 by Bertha González Nieves, the first certified female Maestra Tequilera, and Robert W. Pittman, visionary entrepreneur and one of the co-founders of MTV. What began as a chance meeting evolved into a shared vision — to reimagine tequila not as a spirit to chase, but one to savor.
Together, they set on a journey to create a true sipping tequila; smooth enough to sip and to pair with the world’s finest cuisines. In 2009 they launched Casa Dragones Joven, a small batch, rare style of tequila that could stand proudly among the world’s finest sipping spirits. From the lowlands of Jalisco to our home in San Miguel de Allende, every detail reflects dedication to quality, precision, and modern Mexican craftsmanship.

ROOTED IN HISTORY
Our name honors Los Dragones de San Miguel de Allende, the legendary cavalry that helped ignite Mexico’s Independence Movement in 1810. Their blue uniforms inspired our signature color, while the number 16 — present on every bottle — marks both the date of Mexico’s independence and the address of La Casa Dragones, our home.
