This 17th-century building, once home to the stables of the legendary Dragones cavalry, stands as a living testament to Mexico’s history — the very place where the Dragones set out to spark the country’s Independence Movement in 1810.
Today, La Casa Dragones has been transformed into an elegant private residence that preserves its original essence while paying homage to contemporary Mexican design and mid-century Bajío style. Every corner tells a story—of tradition, independence, and the art of tequila making.

RESTORATION AND DESIGN
La Casa Dragones was restored by Meyer Davis with design curation by Ana Elena Mallet and Raúl Cabra.
The restoration brings together the original 17th-century stone structure with interiors furnished with contemporary Mexican works and selected mid-century Bajío pieces. Furniture, lighting, and textiles by designers including Don Shoemaker, Fernando Laposse, Rafael Weber, Angela Damman, Daniel Couttolenc, Casa Midi, Caralarga, and Trine Ellitsgaard appear across the rooms.
The project has received international recognition including the LIV Hospitality Design Awards (Interior Design: Bar Lounge, Cocktail Bar, and Historic & Heritage categories), Hospitality Design Awards (Hybrid Hospitality), the Créateurs Design Awards (Best Hospitality Project in Interior Design), AN Best of Design Awards (Restoration & Preservation), and Interior Design Best of Year Awards (Small Hotel Transformation).
PRIVATE EVENTS
La Casa Dragones hosts private tastings, pairing dinners, and courtyard receptions designed for celebrations, cultural gatherings, and small group experiences.
THE SHOWROOM
Following each tasting experience, guests are invited into the Casa Dragones Showroom to explore the complete Casa Dragones collection alongside artist editions and limited presentations available exclusively in San Miguel de Allende.
