November, 2019

In November 2019, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Casa Dragones in spectacular style. In our spiritual home, San Miguel de Allende, we hosted a plant-based dinner for 350 guests prepared by five internationally renowned chefs. Taking place during Dia de los Muertos weekend, we honored our dedication to Mexican craftsmanship and culture that has spanned over the past decade.

Attendees honored traditional Day of the Dead attire by dressing in vibrant local headdresses and handmade masks by local artisans. To arrive at the celebration, guests walked down Recreo street, where thousands of vibrant orange cempasuchitles, the flower of the dead, were in sight. The 10-piece mariachi band, two mojigangas, and a singer on horseback led the lively procession to the tunnel of Plaza de Toros, the bullfighting ring, where dinner was served.
Guests included designers Naeem Khan, Héctor Esrawe, and Carla Fernández, artists Gabriel Orozco, Danh Vo, Pedro Reyes, Academy-Award winning writer Stephen Gaghan, Cy and Olmo Schnabel, Oscar Madrazo, Cindy Rachofsky, Phillip Lim CEO Wen Zhou, and Casa Dragones co-founder and CEO of iHeartMedia Bob Pittman, as well as friends and family of Casa Dragones, sipped on cocktails underneath a canopy of floating Mexican paper-mâché lanterns.
As a way to honor our decade of commitment to modern, sustainable tequila production, our chef-friends including, Enrique Olvera (Cosme, ATLA, Pujol), Daniela Soto-Innes (Cosme, ATLA), Elena Reygadas (Rosetta, La Panadería, Café NiN), Blaine Wetzel (The Willows Inn) and Donnie Masterton (The Restaurant), prepared an outstanding plant-based meal. The courses featured peak-of-season ingredients locally sourced to craft dishes like tamal de calabaza with sikil pa’k de guajillo, barbacoa de hongos with wild mushrooms, and freshly pressed tortillas—all an elegant pairing with Tequila Casa Dragones. To complement the meal, Mixologist Yana Volfson (Cosme, ATLA & Ticuchi) and Osvaldo Vazquez (Chileno Bay) crafted The Dr. X, a kava-infused Casa Dragones Blanco cocktail, and the Silver Rush, which features fermented honey from Oaxaca.

With deep appreciation, CEO and co-founder Bertha Gonzales Nieves took the stage to announce our donation to El Charo del Ingenio Botanical Garden, which shares our mission of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of San Miguel de Allende.
The band Tropikal Forever continued the celebration and started the post-dinner dance party covering everything from Radiohead to Rolling Stones. Finally, guests made their way to La Casa Dragones down the street of Recreo to dance at our courtyard where London DJs Chloé Caillet and Joshua Ludlow spun until dawn.
A truly spectacular celebrating our 10-year anniversary and Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) in the Plaza de Toros in San Miguel de Allende.
