Visit Casa Dragones Tasting Room
While visiting San Miguel de Allende, don’t miss the opportunity to visit Casa Dragones Tasting Room, a six-seat destination for sipping tequila and signature craft cocktails located in the historic Dôce 18, a curated collection of luxury boutiques, design shops and restaurants. Casa Dragones collaborated with the internationally acclaimed firm Meyer Davis, known for their made to measure approach to design and architecture, to create the intimate Tasting Room, which showcases Casa Dragones’ ongoing commitment to Mexican craftsmanship.
Inspiration for the Tasting Room stemmed from a deep-seated desire to provide guests a transportive, sensory experience with Casa Dragones Sipping Tequilas and its terroir. The terroir has been incorporated into the space through the use of obsidian, the iconic Mexican stone found in Casa Dragones’ agave fields. Esteemed Mexican designer Gloria Cortina lent her expertise in transforming the natural obsidian rocks into the 4,000 tiles which Meyer Davis then used to adorn the walls and ceiling of the Tasting Room.
Casa Dragones Tasting Room received 2017 Special Mention for Hospitality – Bars & Nightclubs for the Architizer’s A+ Awards Honoring the Best Architecture, Spaces, & Products.
Guests can make a reservation to visit The Tasting Room for a comprehensive tasting of our tequilas, Casa Dragones Joven and Casa Dragones Blanco, through our online booking system.

A Reflection of Agave Terroir
Found in the rich volcanic soil of Casa Dragones’ agave fields in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, in Tequila, Jalisco, large black obsidian rocks were formed from a lava explosion over 20,000 years ago. Today, these majestic stones have been carefully transformed by hand into 4,000 beautiful tiles that now adorn the walls and ceiling of Casa Dragones Tasting Room.
“The opportunity to use obsidian, an iconic Mexican stone, and transform it into something of beauty to appreciate and experience in a new way was a very exciting challenge,” designer Gloria Cortina says. “This black obsidian is extremely fragile and must be worked properly to reflect all of its natural beauty and characteristics, and so crafting 4,000 tiles was a very complex and delicate endeavor.”

Changing Perspectives: Transforming Obsidian Into Pure Beauty
Watch as raw obsidian boulders, collected from the natural volcanic soil of Casa Dragones’ agave fields, are transformed into over 4,000 beautifully iridescent tiles to adorn the walls and ceiling of Casa Dragones Tasting Room.
