 FOUNDER STORY

Casa Dragones was founded in 2009 by Bertha González Nieves, the first female Maestra Tequilera certified by the Academia Mexicana de Catadores de Tequila, and Robert W. Pittman, visionary entrepreneur and media innovator best known for his role as the co-founder of MTV and Chairman & CEO of iHeartMedia.
The two met at a party in New York City, where they quickly discovered a shared entrepreneurial spirit and a mutual love for tequila. Together they set on a quest to create a true sipping tequila; a tequila that was smooth enough to sip, to pair with food, and to stand alongside the world’s finest sipping spirits, such as cognacs and whiskeys.
 IT BEGAN AS A PROMISE

From the start, their goal was clear: to craft a tequila that would redefine what many thought of tequila and reimagine tequila not as a spirit to chase, but one to savor. They made a promise to each other that if they couldn’t create something truly exceptional tasting, they would abandon the project.
Determined to deliver on that promise, González Nieves brought industry veteran, Maestro Tequilero Benjamín García, out of retirement to help craft what would become Casa Dragones’ first expression. Casa Dragones Joven is a rare, master blend of silver and extra-aged tequila, crafted with the utmost care to present a complex, yet remarkably smooth profile.
This pioneering approach positioned Casa Dragones as the first tequila to define itself as a sipping tequila, setting a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation.
Today, Casa Dragones remains dedicated to small-batch production and to advancing Mexico’s tradition of tequila-making through innovation, artistry, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
