PEDRO REYES AND ARTISTS AGAINST THE BOMB AT MOMA PS1
Artists, activists and scientists gathered at MoMA PS1 for an afternoon centered on art, atomic culture and the movement for nuclear disarmament.
Long Island City, New York | Opening weekend, September 2026
On September 12, Mexican artist Pedro Reyes delivered the keynote at Atomicon, part of the opening weekend of Artists Against the Bomb at MoMA PS1.
Presented in the museum’s Homeroom and organized by Estudio Pedro Reyes and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the exhibition draws on an international artistic campaign supporting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
The wider campaign spans posters, film, photography, sculpture and other media, giving artists different ways to address the subject publicly. Exhibition contributors include Regina José Galindo, Nani Chacón, Carlos Amorales, Frieda Toranzo Jaeger, Art & Language and Laura Anderson Barbata.
Atomicon extended those ideas into conversation. The program included presentations by Ray Acheson, Justin Apice and Casey Carter, with Joy Episalla speaking on behalf of fierce pussy. Visitors were also invited to take part in a drop-in poster workshop examining the visual history of peace movements.
After the talks, the conversation continued at a reception featuring Casa Dragones Blanco, Reposado Mizunara and Añejo Barrel Blend.
Artists Against the Bomb remains on view at MoMA PS1 through February 8, 2027.
