Beneath the vaulted tile ceilings of Grand Central Oyster Bar, Storefront for Art and Architecture brought together artists, architects and designers for its annual gala.

On September 28, Storefront for Art and Architecture honored architecture and design firm SO–IL, arts leader Deana Haggag and artist Mel Chin at its annual gala.

Casa Dragones Joven was served with oysters beneath the Oyster Bar’s tiled arches, with bottles and blue presentation boxes arranged at the bar.

The gala supported an organization that has spent more than four decades examining the relationship between art, architecture and public life.

Founded by Kyong Park in 1982, Storefront began on Prince Street with Performance A–Z, a series presented over 26 consecutive nights. In 1986, the organization moved to its triangular gallery at 97 Kenmare Street, where its exhibitions and programs have continued to explore how cities are shaped, occupied and shared.

That public dimension remains central to Storefront: its gallery is free to visit, and support for the institution helps sustain its exhibitions and programming.

After dinner, guests continued to an after-party, where Margaritas and Dragones Rocks were served.
