SUMMER COCKTAILS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY
Published in Robb Report en Español, July 24th 2026
To celebrate National Tequila Day, Casa Dragones unveiled a collection of four original cocktails created by acclaimed bartenders from Mexico and the United States.
Every July 24, National Tequila Day shines a spotlight on one of Mexico's most iconic spirits. Beyond honoring its heritage and origin, the occasion also reflects tequila's evolution within contemporary cocktail culture, where innovative ingredients, refined techniques, and distinctive flavor profiles continue to redefine the category.
In celebration of the occasion, Casa Dragones introduced a collection of four cocktails crafted with Casa Dragones Blanco, developed by renowned bartenders from Mexico and New York. Each recipe shares a common inspiration: showcasing seasonal ingredients while reinterpreting flavors rooted in Mexican gastronomy through a contemporary lens.
Margarita al Pastor
One of the collection's standout creations is Margarita al Pastor, crafted by José Luis León, Beverage Director at Licorería Limantour and Baltra Bar. Inspired by the classic margarita, the cocktail incorporates pineapple and a custom spice blend reminiscent of traditional tacos al pastor, creating a balanced expression of sweet, citrus, and savory notes.
Purple Flowers
Mexico City also serves as the inspiration behind Purple Flowers, created by mixologist Berenice Morales. The cocktail pays tribute to jacaranda season through a butterfly pea flower infusion, complemented by grapefruit, lime, and limoncello. Egg white lends a silky texture and creates the signature foam that defines its elegant presentation.
Margarita Royal
The collection also features Margarita Royale, created by New York–based beverage designer Yana Volfson. A sparkling interpretation of the classic margarita, the cocktail combines tequila, orange liqueur, and fresh lime juice with a touch of Champagne, resulting in a bright, refreshing, and elegantly effervescent profile.
Shamrock
Meanwhile, Shamrock, created by Fabiola Padilla, founder of Bekeb Bar in San Miguel de Allende, offers a more herbaceous expression. Combining cucumber, pineapple, fresh lime juice, elderflower liqueur, and agave syrup, the cocktail strikes a refreshing balance between bright acidity and vibrant freshness—an ideal serve for the warmer months of the year.
The Rise of Tequila Cocktails
Beyond introducing new recipes, the collection reflects tequila's continued evolution within contemporary mixology. Across all four cocktails, fresh seasonal ingredients, refined preparation techniques, and references to Mexican cuisine and landscapes highlight the remarkable versatility that tequila brings to today's cocktail culture.
In celebration of National Tequila Day, the collection also highlights the work of bartenders who have helped elevate Mexican cocktail culture on the international stage. Using tequila as their foundation, each has created a cocktail that brings together tradition, creativity, and seasonality while remaining deeply rooted in the spirit's Mexican heritage.
