CASA DRAGONES AND GABRIEL OROZCO HONOR MEXICAN ARCHITECTURE WITH THE SPECIAL EDITION “EL COLOSO DE SANTA ÚRSULA”
June, 2026
In a celebration that brings together art, architecture, and heritage, Tequila Casa Dragones unveils its new special edition, Casa Dragones El Coloso de Santa Úrsula, a curated collaboration with contemporary artist Gabriel Orozco honoring the iconic Mexico City Stadium designed by architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez.
The presentation of this edition gathered a select group of guests for an intimate experience where Mexican art and culture took center stage. During the event, attendees discovered the details behind this collectible piece while enjoying Casa Dragones Joven served in a flute glass, an expression designed to highlight the tequila’s purity, elegance, and character through a refined tasting ritual.
A tribute to an icon of Mexican architecture
“El Coloso de Santa Úrsula” celebrates one of the most emblematic works of modern Mexican architecture. Designed in 1966 by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, the stadium holds a unique place in world football history as the only venue to have hosted three FIFA World Cups (1970, 1986, and 2026), becoming a symbol of identity, modernity, and national pride.
The Casa Dragones Joven special edition draws from this architectural legacy, transforming it into a contemporary art object. Through the vision of Gabriel Orozco, the bottle and its case reinterpret the stadium’s geometry, materials, and monumental presence within the urban landscape.
Art, design, and tradition in a single piece
The visual language of this edition incorporates elements that evoke the essence of the stadium: concrete textures, structural lines, and its bold geometric form. These visual codes are translated into a collectible piece that bridges past, present, and future through the language of contemporary art.
The commemorative band accompanying the bottle references the years in which Mexico has hosted the FIFA World Cup—1970, 1986, and 2026—reinforcing the historical significance of this collaboration.
A continued commitment to contemporary art
This collaboration is part of Casa Dragones’ ongoing legacy of working with some of the world’s most influential contemporary artists. Over the years, the house has developed a series of Artist Editions that explore new forms of expression through design, sculpture, and visual intervention.
With El Coloso de Santa Úrsula, Casa Dragones reaffirms its commitment to positioning tequila as a living cultural platform, where artisanal excellence meets contemporary creativity.
