Presented by MaxMara, this year’s fête honored Sofia Coppola.
Casa Dragones found itself transported to a glamorous wild west at Ballroom Marfa’s Spaghetti Western-themed gala on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The event this year honored director and screenwriter Sofia Coppola with the institution’s Off the Grid award, which recognizes individuals who approach their creative practice with the same independent spirit and imagination that thrives in Marfa.
MaxMara partnered for the gala and hosted the MaxMara Saloon photo booth while Paddle8 presented a live auction of beautiful pieces from artists including Donald Judd, Leo Villareal, Rashid Johnson, and Star Montana. During cocktail hour, guests were treated to Dragones Rocks, an elevated classic margarita, and the Blanco Negroni. The dinner kicked off with a Casa Dragones Joven toast and speeches by Rainer Judd and Ballroom Marfa director Laura Copelin. Congratulations to Sofia Coppola, we’re so glad we could celebrate with you, Ballroom Marfa, and Max Mara.
