Casa Dragones Launches Bartender Residency Program in San Miguel de Allende
Casa Dragones launched its bartender residency program last month in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico with award-winning bartender and author, Jim Meehan of PDT New York. The residency program offers bartenders from Mexico and the U.S. the opportunity to guest bartend at the Casa Dragones Tasting Room, which has been hailed as the “smallest tequila bar in the world.”
To kick-off his residency, Jim Meehan crafted and unveiled three new cocktails using local ingredients found in San Miguel’s colorful outdoor market. Inspired by the crisp, herbaceous notes in Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco, Meehan crafted the EpaNopal, La Catrina, and Rivera cocktails to serve to special VIP guests lucky enough to have obtained a coveted reservation to the residency.
“I have the great fortune to be the first bartender to be part of their residency program here at the Tasting Room. It’s an intimate and modern space where you can introduce people to a new experience, like bringing a bartender from afar. I think it’s amazing; I am here to learn as much as I am here to share.”
Casa Dragones Tasting Room is a reservation-only, six-seat destination in San Miguel de Allende focused on providing guests the opportunity to learn about the techniques and innovation behind Casa Dragones Sipping Tequilas. Reservations for the Tasting Room were sold out within minutes of announcing Mr. Meehan’s residency.
Meehan – author of The PDT Cocktail Book: The Complete Bartender’s Guide and creator of the speakeasy-style lounge PDT (Please Don’t Tell) in Manhattan is a James Beard Award-winner, and one of the most celebrated bartenders in the world. His highly anticipated new book, Meehan’s Bartender Manual, will launch ahead of the summer this year.
