VIP Opening of the Marciano Art Foundation (MAF) in Los Angeles
Tequila Casa Dragones was pleased to join Paul and Maurice Marciano, brothers and co-founders of GUESS and co-owners of Wally’s Wine and Spirits, for a private VIP opening of the Marciano Art Foundation (MAF) in Los Angeles.
The evening featured a private viewing of the new collection in the beautiful three-story museum followed by drinks by Casa Dragones Blanco and food by famed chef Wolfgang Puck.
Notable guests of the event included Christian Navarro, Jim Shaw, Catherine Opie, Takashi Murakami, Jeff Koons, musician and artist Kim Gordon, gallerist Larry Gagosian, publisher Benedikt Taschen, Los Angeles County Museum of Art Director Michael Govan and Museum of Contemporary Art Director Philippe Vergne.
Also in attendance were Hollywood stars including Owen Wilson, Sharon Stone and Ryan Seacrest.
The Marciano Art Foundation has a collection of about 1,500 artworks, created in the 1990s or later; it aims to juxtapose young and emerging artists with more established names. The inaugural installation of the museum’s permanent collection, “Unpacking: The Marciano Collection,” was curated by former Museum of Contemporary Art senior curator Philipp Kaiser. It explores the post-Pop movement and ideas of dystopian architecture, entropy and ruin, as well as the visualization of the art process.
